I started painting a series of rainbow paintings a few months ago. This pre dates the popularity of rainbow paintings used to celebrate the work of our NHS but a nice coincidence never-the-less. The series of paintings I am currently working on are based upon and inspired by another of my works that I painted around 20 years ago. The original painting consists of a rainbow, an eclipsed sun and two areas of negative space - inside and outside the rainbow. The current series of paintings follow the same simple idea with some slight modifications.
The rainbow appears in the Bible after the flood in the time of Noah. It is given as a sign that God will never again destroy the world with a flood, it is a sign that represents a covenant - God’s promise.
Above is the rainbow painting of 20 years ago.
