REINTERPRETTING THE SPIRIT OF CHRIST

21/03/2020

I have an urge to paint spiritual paintings that could help explain the feelings and insights I have gained since starting upon my search for God and meaning to life. So now is the time for me to make a start on a spiritual painting. I will begin this process by borrowing from an image of Christ flanked by his devoted disciples. The original painting titled Consolator was painted by Carl Heinrick Bloch 1834-1890.

I will use this design as a starting point but gradually move away from it to create an original painting which will be titled Adam. A grid had been placed over the printed reference to allow for an accurate transfer of the image. Just a basic sketch is required on the canvas which is 75 x 90cm. At this stage I am toying with ideas such as a rainbow in the background and a black sun in the top right corner somewhere.
