SHADING IN

13/06/2020
Following on from yesterday’s post, now that the image is transferred to the support the work of shading can begin. Remember the outline is very faint so it’s not a bad idea to establish all the large blocks to begin with. The shading process is completed both in layers and through pressure to create the dark values. After the big shapes are shaded in and the image is established then the focus can turn to the smaller details. The faces are clearly the most important areas on this drawing and will recieve the most critical attention.
All areas required to establish the shape of the figures (except the man’s shoes) have had one pass of graphite. The man’s face only has had a second pass.
